FoodsScan is a bilingual (English/Bulgarian) reference for what is actually inside packaged food. You can scan a barcode with your phone, search by product name, or read up on an individual additive. For each product we show the ingredient list, flag the additives and the 14 EU-designated allergens in it, and give three scores derived from those ingredients.
It is built for the Bulgarian and wider Balkan market first. Additive information in Bulgarian is thin on the ground, and most international food databases carry little or no Bulgarian-language content, so that is the gap this fills.
Product records — names, barcodes, label photographs and category tags — are largely imported from Open Food Facts, a collaborative open database published under the Open Database License (ODbL). Some products are contributed directly by users of this site, who photograph the label themselves.
